October 1, 2025 – At this time, no events on the Florida Keys National Wildlife Refuge will take place.
The Native Plant Day has been cancelled.
Wednesday October 15, 2025, 8:30am – Take a Walk! Morning Nature Walk in the Lower Florida Keys

Meeting Location: Long Beach Trailhead, National Key Deer Refuge, Big Pine Key
WHEN: Wednesday October 15th. – 8:30am.
WHERE: National Key Deer Refuge, Long Beach Road Trailhead, Big Pine Key
DIRECTIONS: Proceed to MM33 on US 1/ Overseas Highway. Turn oceanside at the Big Pine Key RV Resort located at MM33 at the corner of US1 and Long Beach Road. Drive for approximately 0.5 miles along Long Beach Road. The trailhead is located on the left. Park alongside the road.
NOTE: Areas may be muddy.

NEW LOCATION: LOWER KEYS CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, 31020 Overseas Highway. Big Pine Key, FL 33043.
WHEN: Saturday October 18, 10.00 am – 12 noon
- Play Plant & Wildlife Trivia and get Free Native Plants!
- Listen to a talk on Native Plants presented by Liah Continentino, Monroe County Extension Service Agriculture Agent
- Join in a guided plant tour of the area surrounding the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce property
WHERE: Parking lot of the Lower Keys Chamber of Commerce, 31020 Overseas Highway, Big Pine Key.
Florida Keys plant & wildlife lovers can test their knowledge of Florida Keys Native plants and wildlife by taking part in our ‘Plant & Wildlife Trivia’. Answer a question correctly and pick a native plant or two to take home. Learn which native plants provide food for local and visiting birds. Everybody Wins!
Master Gardeners will be available to answer your questions on plants.

Where an activity has not been scheduled, take a walk or bicycle ride in the Refuges where access allows, kayak the surrounding waters, have a picnic , enjoy the outdoors.
